| JAMES RIVER PARK OVERVIEW | ||
| The largest and most unique park in Richmond is the James River Park System. It includes over 550 acres of shoreline and islands in the heart of the city, extending from Huguenot Bridge in the West to a half mile beyond the I-95 Bridge in the East. It includes most of the fall line of the James. Rocks, rapids, meadows and forests make for an area of unspoiled natural beauty - a little bit of wilderness in the heart of the city. The James River Park offers opportunities for whitewater and flat-water canoeing and kayaking, fishing, hiking, jogging, sunbathing, wildlife exploration, historical study and much more. Many of these opportunities can be found throughout this website. The Visitor Center schedules a variety of tours, programs, and activities throughout the year. The park encourages these activites for people of all ages. There are also many opportunities for volunteers to help with nature conservation and resource management projects.
