River Heroes Need You Before March 14!

Like a circling Red Tail Hawk, our second annual River Heroes deadline is homing in and will be here on March 14. So, take the express and nominate your hero here! Thank you! Thanks also to the good folks of The Boathouse at Rockett's Landing who are co-sponsoring the contest again this year as we honor those who support, enhance and champion the James River.

Way to Go, Ralph and All Who Nominated Him!

Ralph WhiteThanks SO MUCH to everyone who nominated retiring JRPS Park Manager Ralph White for a Roosevelt-Ashe Conservation Award through WildSouth, an organization devoted to conservation all over the South.

The judges were so impressed with the 21 nominations for Ralph that they voted to give him a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award! Very cool.

Learn more about his award (and not his fashion choices!) here.

License Plate Latest. March is the Word.

We could trot out those annoying sayings, like "patience is a virtue." But we're not in the mood. But our mood could certainly be elevated with a delivery from DMV which should occur this month, according to DMV, who is processing our applications now. You'll hear us shouting from the rooftops and bridges when we spot the first plate in the wild. Please send us a note on Facebook when you've got yours!

license plate

If you submitted and paid for your JRPS license plate in 2010 or 2011 and have replaced the vehicle that was on that application or moved, please submit a new license plate form to DMV--to Ms. Carolyn Easley--with the word REPLACEMENT at the top of the form. Be sure to write JAMES RIVER PARK SYSTEM on your replacement application as well.

Forms for Mrs. Easley can be emailed to carolyn.easley@dmv.virginia.gov or faxed to (804) 367-1096. You've already paid for this and DMV has your money, so we want to make sure you get the plate you deserve as soon as possible.
