Saturday, July 9, July 23, August 6 - Inner Tube Float: Z Dam to Wetlands
Slow, mostly flat, float alongside Williams Island. Frequent views of ospreys, geese and occasional eagles. Steep slope to access river. Tubes, lifejackets and guides provided. Must be able to swim, be above age 12, and wear sneakers. Reservations required. Park at Entrance to The Wetlands on Landria Rd. Van takes participants to the put-in. 646-8911 $ fee
Saturday, July 9 James River Splash & Dash 4 p.m. Belle Isle
This first-ever competition sponsored by the James River Association includes a 2 mile run around Belle Isle and a 1/3 of a mile tube paddle. $30 includes a tube. Info here.
Saturday, July 16 and July 30th - Inner Tube Float: Cooper's Island to Reedy Creek
Bob through riffles, pools and small rapids among waterfowl and interesting water plants in a remote-seeming part of the river.Some walking to the put-in.Tubes, lifejackets and guides provided.Must be able to swim, be above age 12, and wear sneakers. Saturday, July 16 Dive and Draw! 10AM - 1PM
Kids will snorkel among giant catfish and delightful turtles at one of the most beautiful spots on the James River. Then they will use the inspiration to create a souvenir art project.

Saturday, August 13 Summer Sizzler Hike 10AM - 2PM
This is a very popular long-distance excursion on the award-winning trails of James River Park. Be prepared for a moderate to strenuous hike on nine miles with beautiful scenery, wildlife and engaging history. Meet at Belle Isle Parking Lot, Tredegar Street
